Digital Broadcasting Problematics in Indonesia

Simulcast broadcasting (broadcast simultaneously between analog and digital signals)is scheduled to begin in 2010 and ended in 2017, and after 2017 no more analog broadcasting in Indonesia (the analog cut-off). This time I want to share about the things that are being and will face the world ahead of the simulcast broadcasting next year.

The Government has set the standard DVB-T as the standard used for digital TV broadcasting in Indonesia with a concept that is still the same that is based on the channel UHF terrestrial and free-to-air. To be able to receive digital broadcasts, it needs an additional tool called STB (Set-Top-Box) aka decoder which is connected to a regular UHF antenna. Later, every television sold in this country has been able to catch the broadcast DVB-T set-top box without the help again.

Advantages broadcast DVB-T is quite clear, namely image quality and many additional features such as event schedules, weather info, etc.. Nevertheless, it is not easy to explain to the public if they are sooner or later have to prepare ourselves to adapt to this new technology. For most people, it could be better to compromise with analog broadcasts that are less good than the STB is not cheap to buy it. This is where we will assess whether this migration will be successful or not.

Currently broadcast trials are still ongoing in Greater Jakarta with transmitter sites in the region Joglo, West Jakarta. Reportedly, Samsung soon will introduce a new smartphone as Galaxy S II, named Galaxy S III. Also the Korean Electronic Manufacturer will begin to produces a smartphones that use the 3-dimensional (3D) The first-named Galaxy S 3D.

According ETNews, a South Korean technology site, the two new smartphones from Samsung will be introduced at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain, in February 2012.

For the Galaxy S III, ETNews reported that the smartphone will be equipped with quad-core processors (four core) 1.8 GHz. This was done by Samsung's rival, HTC (Taiwanese vendors), which plans to introduce several Android smartphone that also uses quad-core processors, ie, Edge and Zeta.

Basically a digital camera is a deice use to capture pictures without the use of films. Unlike the conventional camera, the digital camera does not rely on mechanical and chemical processes. It has a built in computer and records the images it captures in an electronic form. Having and operating one does not even require the use of electricity.

Since the images that a digital camera captures is in electronic form, it is a language recognized by computers. This language is called pixels, tiny colored dots represented by ones and zeros that make up the picture that you just took. Just like any conventional cameras, a digital camera is furnished with a series of lenses that focus the light and creates the image that you want to capture. The difference here is then; a conventional camera focuses its light on a film while a digital camera focuses the light into a semiconductor device that electronically records the light. Remember the built in computer, it comes in here and breaks this information to digital data resulting to all the features of the digital camera.

Another feature of the digital camera is that it has a sensor that converts light into electrical charges. A charge coupled device or CCD is an image sensor that is found in a digital camera. Sehari-hari aku bergelut dengan internet. Dunia digital menjadi keseharian aktivitas yang tak pernah terlepaskan. Informasi, hiburan, dan setiap hal-hal yang aku kerjakan selalu berhubungan dengan dunia digital.

Digital menurut wikipedia, berasal dari kata Digitus, dalam bahasa Yunani berarti jari jemari. Apabila kita hitung jari jemari orang dewasa, maka berjumlah sepuluh (10). Nilai sepuluh tersebut terdiri dari 2 radix, yaitu 1 dan 0, oleh karena itu Digital merupakan penggambaran dari suatu keadaan bilangan yang terdiri dari angka 0 dan 1 atau off dan on (bilangan biner). Semua sistem komputer menggunakan sistem digital sebagai basis datanya. Dapat disebut juga dengan istilah Bit (Binary Digit).

Peralatan canggih, seperti komputer, pada prosesornya memiliki serangkaian perhitungan biner yang rumit. Dalam gambaran yang mudah-mudah saja, proses biner seperti saklar lampu, yang memiliki 2 keadaan, yaitu Off (0) dan On (1). Misalnya ada 20 lampu dan saklar, jika saklar itu dinyalakan dalam posisi A, misalnya, maka ia akan membentuk gambar bunga, dan jika dinyalakan dalam posisi B, ia akan membentuk gambar hati. Begitulah kira-kira biner digital tersebut.

Konsep digital ini ternyata juga menjadi gambaran pemahaman suatu keadaan yang saling berlawanan. Pada gambaran saklar lampu yang ditekan pada tombol on, maka ruangan akan tampak terang. Namun apabila saklar lampu yang ditekan pada tombol off, maka ruangan menjadi gelap. Kondisi alam semesta secara keseluruhan menganut sistem digital ini. Pada belahan bumi katulistiwa, munculnya siang dan malam adalah suatu fenomena yang tidak terbantahkan. Secara psikologis, manusia terbentuk dengan dua sifatnya, yaitu baik dan buruk. Konsep Yin dan Yang ternyata juga bersentuhan dengan konsep digital ini.
